This series is a good example of exercising creativity in presentation, and the first to blatantly take focus away from the "main subject" as it were.

Pocket Portraits 1
The Pocket Portraits Project all started back in 2005 in Berkeley CA. The first series was taken by and of the artist in October 2005
In the Pocket Portrait project, observation of products and materials carried by the subjects of the study, help to gain insight into the needs, aesthetics, desires, mental organization tactics and sense of humor of the participants. You can usually also place them in an age demographic.
The general concept behind the project is that a large amount about each participant can be gathered in two main categories. First, by virtue of the Items carried on a daily basis, showing what each individual needs on any given trip out of the house (depending on random destination). Secondly, in the presentation of these objects, each subject is free to arrange their items as they would like them portrayed, revealing volumes about their sense of organization, aesthetic, external image, dependence on technology, and brand allegiance.
Accompanying these images, I have introduced a short series of portraits of the individuals themselves. The idea being that once you have deduced as much as you can about the subject in question from their personal affects, you can put a face to a name as it were, and may be surprised by the correlations between one and the other.
